Jersey Boys Tour

“We are thrilled that the public’s interest in Jersey Boys has generated the demand for a second North American touring production. We continue to be amazed and humbled at how universally this story and its music seem to touch people; from San Francisco to Schenectady, and around the world – Toronto, Australia, London, and hopefully beyond.” That’s ‘Jersey Boys’ producer Michael David confirming the news that there will be, indeed, a second touring company of the critically acclaimed and worldwide smash hit musical, which will kick off late this year in Philly. Casting calls will begin in the last quarter of this year.

The decision to kick off the second national trek of ‘Jersey Boys’ in Philadelphia was a no-brainer. “Jersey Boys had a phenomenal premiere engagement at the Forrest Theater in Fall 2010, having electrified over 140,000 theatergoers. Jersey Boys holds the top 9 box office grosses at the Forrest, and we look forward to having the show back in town with the launch of the new company,” explains Mark Schweppe of The Shubert Organization, which currently owns and operates the said Philadelphian theatre house.

The multi-awarded musical, which tells the story of one of the iconic and acclaimed pop groups of the ‘60s, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, had always played to sold-out crowds, whether at the Great White Way, or across the States where it broke west coast records after a successful run at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, in Las Vegas or all over North America. Helmed onstage by multiple Tony Award winner Des McAnuff, with a book penned by Oscar-winning writers Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, and a choreography from Sergio Trujillo, ‘Jersey Boys’ chronicles the history of the famed pop group against scores and songs penned by former Four Seasons member Bob Gaudio, who often shared writing and composing credits with Frankie Valli back in the day.

The trek opens on December 6 at the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia, followed by a two-city run in Ohio in January till February 2012. The tour will also crisscross east coast and Midwest stops till it hits down south for its wrap-up run in Dallas, TX from June to July 2012.
